For such a little village on a small island, Ocracoke Island has a great selection of places to enjoy a drink. Ocracoke bars range from waterfront tiki bars to casual wine bars to a real nightclub with regular live music. And this is good because Ocracoke is a place where you have plenty of time to wind down with a cocktail. Whether you’re watching the boats come in from the marina tiki bar or sipping your first (or last) drink on the island at the classic rooftop bar at the entrance to the village, you’re going to love making new friends and toasting old ones in the Ocracoke bars.
Getting to the Ocracoke Bars
Ocracoke is a wonderful village because everything, and we mean everything, is within easy walking, biking or golf-carting distance of everything else. This small village was just made for bar-hopping. But, keep in mind that if you’re hitting more than one Ocracoke bar, it’s just as illegal to drive a golf cart as it is a car if your blood alcohol level is over .08 percent. And, yes, it’s also illegal to ride a bicycle while intoxicated in North Carolina. Your best bet is to hoof it after enjoying a day or night in the Ocracoke bars.
