Ocracoke Island is proud of its love for music and stories – can’t you tell? In fact, islanders consider them central pieces of their heritage and culture. Ocracoke nightlife is no exception. If you’re looking for a night out, you can expect music to be involved, as it is in so many Ocracoke events. You may visit a local restaurant where you can jam out to themed music with some of your favorite songs. Maybe you’ll be chilling at a bar or restaurant with your friends as you listen to the croon of live music swelling the background. To get a taste for the most Ocracoke-y nightlife activity of them all, visit the concert hall and theater where you’ll listen to local musicians perform, storytellers regale their tales and other theatrics unfold. Musicians performing at Ocracoke are frequently bands and solo artists who are native Outer Bankers weaving coastal and folk influences into their compositions. Ocracoke is even home base to the nationally known group Molasses Creek.
Ocracoke Nightlife for the Music Enthusiasts
In addition to local artists, many visiting performers bring their talents to Ocracoke. Perhaps most popularly Ocracoke hosts the Ocrafolk Festival every first weekend in June. It features up and coming folk singers in addition to well-established ones. It's a three-day event that involves blissfully wandering between stages to hear music that makes you want to sing along and tap your feet. If you’re visiting during the Fourth of July weekend, Ocracoke events have a treat for you with the Fourth of July Independence Day Festival. Visit attractions on the island, join a parade, sculpt a beautiful sand creature or become mesmerized by the firework display.
