4th of July Celebration in Ocracoke

Irvin Garrish Highway, Ocracoke

Ocracoke Village will celebrate the Independence Day 2016 with fireworks! After six years without a pyrotechnic show, the island community is bringing this patriotic tradition back to its holiday festivities. The rockets will light up the sky on the evening of Sunday, July 3, 2016, at 9:15pm to kick-off the two-day celebration of our nation’s birthday.

There is no better way to celebrate Independence Day during the day than at the beach! Ocracoke has created a family-oriented, fun-filled Outer Banks annual event with lots of activities for all ages. The 4th kicks off with a flag-raising ceremony at the school circle and the annual Sand Sculpture Contest. Other activities include lighthouse tours, pirate sightings, a vintage car show, and live music. Ocracoke invites everyone to participate in the 4th of July Parade! Visitors and locals build floats, decorate bikes and golf carts, or sing, dance, and juggle to amuse the crowds that gather for the late-afternoon parade. Most events are sponsored by the Ocracoke Civic and Business Association.
