About 30 local fishermen and fisherwomen unload their daily catches at the harborside docks of Ocracoke Seafood Company, Ocracoke's only fish house. Adjacent to the docks you will find their retail market, so look here for the fresh catches of the day like shrimp, scallops, crabs, tuna, oysters and clams, depending on the season. Spices, herbs and condiments are available for preparing a great meal. This is more than a seafood market as it is also the home of the nonprofit Ocracoke Working Watermen's Association, whose mission is to preserve their cultural heritage and to protect and ensure the future of local working fishermen.
